Yesterdays Coffee

I woke up this morning
On the wrong side of the bed
I remember something about a fight
But not much that was said
Whisky makes me mean
And unable to think
So I stumble to the kitchen
To pour myself a drink

Of yesterdays coffee
bitter and strong
As black and as cold as, the night was long
trying to think of something to say
That wouldn’t come out wrong
Sitting there alone
Drinking yesterday’s coffee

You must think I am crazy
I made a fool of myself
Yeah, I know I can’t blame anybody else
How many times have I promised?
I was going to change
But now I bet
That my regret
Will taste the same

As yesterdays coffee
Bitter and strong
As black and as cold as, the night is long
Then I try to think of something to say
That wouldn’t come out wrong
Sitting here alone
Drinking yesterday’s coffee

Oh, the truth is a bitter brew
And it’s hard to swallow
Especially if it brews
Until tomorrow
Nothing taste as bad
As your own stupidity
