Are you longing to achieve lyric writing excellence? Let's examine the subject of writing song lyrics.

This is one aspect of songwriting that creates a lot of problems for some folks. Very often, these are people who excel at writing melodies. They have hundreds of melodies written down but just can't seem to come up with suitable lyrics to match them. It's sometimes very difficult for these folks to accept that they may never excel at writing song lyrics.

When it comes to writing song lyrics, I have one thing to tell someone who is very good at writing melodies but can't seem to write a single line. Collaborate! Find someone who is very good at writing lyrics and work together.

It may be that this person is your direct opposite... Someone who is good at writing song lyrics but just can't seem to be able to put music to these lyrics. Your brilliance at writing melodies and his excellence at writing lyrics has the potential to create wonders you never imagined.

On the other hand, it's quite possible that you do not want to go the collaboration route. You may have a strong inclination to excel at writing lyrics. The good news is that there are many lyric writing/songwriting 'tools' available today that can help you develop.

I'm making reference to tools such as songwriting software, songwriting books, courses, programs and websites (like this one) on the topic of writing song lyrics.

Although these tools won't write lyrics for you, (remember they are only tools) they can certainly make you realize where you may be going wrong and help you take corrective measures. They could also prove to be major contributors in providing inspiration. Songwriting software such as Lyricist, continues to be one of my favorite tools.

Before you can adequately make use of tools geared toward improving your lyric writing skill, you need something which I see as being very important. It's motivation! Without motivation, all your efforts at making the lyric writing field your field, will quickly dissipate.

In my opinion, this is one of the most important elements that you must have before you undertake the lyric writing task. It's imperative!
