songwriting collaboration
by: Anonymous

Personally, I have found it very fruitful to write along with other songwriters. One songwriter builds on the lyrics of each other. One songwriter betters the lyrics of the other and it results in a bigger song. Keep it up. I have written some of my best lyrics that way.

songwriting tricks
by: inspiration101

I just read tips on songwriting, and having labored at this most of my life,One day I realized why it was so difficult. I was tring to force my lyrics into the music. When I simply strumed some chords and hummed a melody, I realized that would dictate to some degree what lyrics could naturaly go with it. There is a little more to it than that but it was a big revalation. Can anyone else expand on this?

Interesting...
by: Matt

I have never tried writing directly with friends... i like my ideas to all fit in my head as i am writing them down...

however, i do agree 100% that letting other people, like band members and friends, help write is always a positive bonus a having several viewpoints helps fit a wider audience

i usually write my own lyrics... then put them forward to my band members for them to take parts from, or make changes to, or take inspiration for other writing... just because the song has been written... it doesnt meen it is finished... improvements can always be made at any time
