did you think
by: Anonymous

They were very good friends and joey never wanted to do any thing like that. He was very wealthy and didn't need to persue that ave. he wrote other songs to that he didn't get the rights to. You would have needed to know him to know this kinda stuff. Bobby has the rights to another song he wrote, but we want get in to that you don't believe anything.Kristopherson has the rights to one of his songs, you only know what you read, but there is so much that goes on behind the scene good luck to you. I will end this argument with the truth. Joel Martin wrote Amanda!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Google
by: crosstraxc

This has nothing to do with Google. It is the US copyright office. If he had written the song I am sure he would have gone after McDill years ago and proved to the courts that he had written the song. End of discussion.

Lesson learned
by: Anonymous

Like I said his carrer was ended. The music biz. did not stand behind any thing he done, mcdill got the song from him and got the credit for writing the song, but in fact it was joey. He was treated like the dixie chicks plus 10 after he struck the guy. You would have to have close ties in the biz. to know this info. Google isn't fact all the time. You would be suprised at how many things like this go on, I'm not just a close friend of joey I'm also so a close friend of others in the biz. and know the truth, I'm sure mcdill dosn't want to loose his royalties so let it be. You seem like a well educated person but this is a lesson learned. I guess it's true you learn something every day.

As I stated earlier, the song was penned by Bob McDill. Google it!
Here is an exerpt from Wikipedia:
"Amanda" is a 1979 single written by Bob McDill and recorded by Waylon Jennings. "Amanda" would be Waylon Jennings eighth solo number one on the country chart. The single stayed at number one for three weeks on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart.[1]

the real song writer of amanda
by: Anonymous

Amanda was written by joel martin from clearwater,s.c. in 1967 the song was actually about his giutar but after others got a hold of it, it was changed to a women. Joel was a navy seal from v naum he made the mistake of striking someone in the music biz. and that was the in of his career. He has 1 or 2 old songs from the 50's 60's. joey as his friends would call him is now in heaven, but I always here people ask who wrote Amanda and it takes me back to the days of hearing him sing it. Now you know.

I thought it was either Waylan Jennings or Kris Kristopherson. Waylan Jennings had a hit with it but my spider senses say that Kris wrote it.
