Michael Holland Shepard songwrote, lyrics and music, I Fought The Law. I Shot The Sheriff was songwriten by me soon later. Bobby Fuller died to early. Was he Pushing To Hard for wrights? The Seeds did not songwrite Pushing To Hard either.

It certainly wasn't written by the Clash, it was written back in the 1950's by Sonny Curtis. It was first recorded by the The Crickets (post Buddy Holly) in 1959. The song was famously covered by Bobby Fuller Four, who recorded a more successful version of the song in 1965. The Clash, performed and recorded a punk rock version in 1976 and 1977.

Green day did a cover of I Fought The Law, but it was originally done by The Clash in the 70's/80's(i think i've got the year right;can't remember for sure)
