War on Faith - Christian Rock/Alternative - Lyrics Critique

by Jayson Blacksmith
(Nashua, New Hampshire, USA)

Zoned in on what you think is true
Afraid to look at what is askew
Despite the world that’s bending around you
The time for change is long overdue

We skip over what we think aint real
And keep our minds focused on our true ideal
Your soul sees what you think is surreal
But in time reality will be revealed

Hatred is rushing through our brains
Anger is rushing through our veins
For far too long we’ve been bound by chains
Break away and burn the remains

It’s time we march on what we truly fear
Until our true identity is clear
It’s time we march until we persevere
Until all our troubles will disappear

Chorus:
It’s a War on Faith!
Can we truly believe in what we cannot embrace?
It’s a War on Faith!
Chasing after tracks that left no trace.
It’s a War! It’s a War!
It is not something that you can simply ignore!
It’s a War on Faith! Yeah
It’s a War on Faith!

Don’t fall to the tricks not true
It will mislead and overtake you
And then it will control and subdue
The person that could have come true

Your soul is something they cannot steal
But your faith is one thing you cannot conceal
They’ll strike you at you Achilles’ heel
And disembody you without any appeal

The best way to avoid the eternal pain
Is to let it happen and do not strain
As they will fear and fear the reign
Of the one who no one can maintain

And now it’s time to win this game
Life and love is what we come to claim
There is no worry there is no shame
In the lion that may not be tamed

Chorus
_______

I had a few more lyrics but after reading them through they seemed either cliche or just bad... so I sorted it into more of a song.

For anyone asking...
by: The writer of this song.

You may not use this song for anything. It is already in process of being recorded and produced and if we find anyone using this we will file claim.

Great
by: Jay

This is pretty good... I somewhat agree with the guy above saying with the fact that it repeats rhymes constantly... but that's not neccesarily a bad thing... if you structured it like "War Inside" by switchfoot it would turn out really good... Strong message and great rhythm throughout... doesn't deserve 1 star...

Don't like chorus
by: Greg Dumais

I disagree with the whole rhyme thing... only thing I don't like is the chorus. I do not know how it would be put to a melody to be honest. Other than that it is great.

Hmmm

I would suggest in the future to stay away from actual rhymes as every rhyme you use, as it makes it more or a poem. It's pretty good though otherwise, especially the message you portray.

Rhyme?
by: Anonymous

what's with the constant use of perfect rhyme? reads like a poem until the chorus. the message was the only thing that brought it up to 3 stars for me. otherwise woulda been a 2

Too long
by: Anonymous

You have to edit your lyrics a bit. This has potential but it's way too long. The structure of the song can be improved. I usually write:

Verse
Verse
Chorus
Verse
Verse
Chorus
Bridge
Chorus

Your verses are structured pretty well, but they tend to be long. Alot of people were mad at your rhyme pattern of AAAA BBBB, and you could probably change that by getting rid of the weak lines and changing it to AABB. Also you should put a bridge in there. Seems empty without it. I would suggest you go to you tube and listen to the videos of great singers and read their lyrics.
