Use your Subconscious - Writing Songs

by Mel
(Australia)

Sometimes I find it helps to listen to a song you haven't hear before, maybe just a couple of times, and keep the melody in your head. Later, try and write the lyrics to the melody, revolving around the theme the song was about. Eg if it was about love, you'll soon realise your ideas and attitudes about love by the lyrics you come with. I guess it's kind of like ad-libbing.

Hope this helps someone :)
