Tips- How I Create My Songs.

(ontario, canada)

I've been writing songs for a few years now; it's not as easy as you may think. For me there a few simple steps I keep in mind to help me. I'm going to tell you them, and give you examples from other songs so you see what I mean.
Steps:
1. Decide what genre you want your song to be; rap, dance, slow, country etc.
2. Once you have that figured out find inspirational songs that you can listen to give you ideas.
EXAMPLE: you chose a slow song; you could listen to I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing- Aerosmith
3. Listen to lyrics carefully, use google.ca and find a rhyming tool to help you get good usage of words.
4. (OPTIONAL) Start out by writing poems, they are basically just like songs.
5. Chose a meaning in your life to write about, that can help you get a really good song
6. Start with the chorus; you make your verses around it.
7. (OPTIONAL) Make the first line of your chorus strong, and repeat it at the end, and/or throughout your song.
8. (OPTINAL) You can have two verses at the beginning of the song, one introduction one and a real one.
9. Once you have written out your chorus, start on your FIRST verse; it should contain the name of the song.
10. Work on all the verses; they don't even have to be that long.
11. When the written part is done; start out making a tune; try out different things. You'll eventually get a good one.
12. When the written part and tune is done that?s when you pick a title; if that involves changing some words in your song, that?s okay.
13. When you think everything is done, check over your work and edit it.

CONGRATULATIONS; you've just wrote your first song!

* CHORUS EXAMPLE;
Don?t want to close my eyes
I don?t want to fall asleep
Cause Id miss you baby
And I don?t want to miss a thing
Cause even when I dream of you
The sweetest dream will never do
I?d still miss you baby
And I don?t want to miss a thing

* VERSE EXAMPLE;
Lying close to you feeling your heart beating
And I?m wondering what you?re dreaming
Wondering if it?s me you?re seeing
Then I kiss your eyes
And thank God were together
I just want to stay with you in this moment forever
Forever and ever

All taken from I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing- Aerosmith

- Good Luck!
