The Three 'C' S
by Jason Cole
(Michigan)
I use what I call the 3 "C" s of songwriting.
Concrete- make your lyrics paint mental pictures. these are the songs that stick in peoples minds. We all think in pictures, make your songs create pictures in the mind of your listener.
Concise- why use 50 words when you can use 5 to say the same thing? Less is more- and more powerful.
Conversational- don't put any lyrics in a song that would sound funny if you used them in a conversation.
You wouldn't say "I shall forever love you" would you?
So why would you put it in a song just to make a ryhme fit?
