The man you see - Songwriter lyric critique

by Adam
(Cleveland, OH)

You say you want your freedom
Say you need some time
You burned up all your bridges
Made off with my last dime

I keep lookin for a reason
to hold my head up high
I don't have a simple answer
But I can tell you why,

Because It's hard to be
The man you see
when you see me on the floor

And it's hard to find
all the words to rhyme
when you can't speak a word anymore

Keep askin all your questions
and telling all your lies
I won't see you til tomorrow
I can see it in your eyes

Keep looking for a reason
not to hang my head and cry
I don't have a simple answer
But I can tell you why

It's hard to be
The man you see
When you see me on the floor

And it's hard to find
All the words to rhyme
when you can't speak a word anymore...
