The Instrumentation is not the song ?

by Ger Feany
(Ireland)

If you sent the backing track of a song lets say from the beetles to ten different songwriters from all over the world that had never heard it before i.e never heard anyone singing the melody, would they all come up with the exact same melody i.e is the melody written into the instrumentation in some songs via piano etc ?

Backing tracks and unique melodies
by: Mantius

Absolutely not. I can guarantee you that they will all come up with a different melody. What you're talking about is very popular with

Caribbean genres of music like soca and reggae. Backing tracks (called riddims) are sent to songwriters who all naturally come up with different lyrics and melodies. Several songs are written on the same backing track and released. This is something I've done, myself.
