Summertime Dance - Lyric Review

by KD Pilcher
(South Jordan, Utah)

She was only thirteen years
Been through a hard time as it appears
Always sneaking out of the house
Just to have a couple beers
He was seventeen then
Being single all over again
Never had a first kiss
Never felt the midnight bliss

They were meant for each other
They thought they ‘d never need another
Til’ that first night
When he wanted to disappear
And she wanted to get away
They never thought that they’d see the end of today
Ooooooh..
Until today...

His hands around her waist
Her arms on his shoulders
Hearts beating faster as they slowly embraced
They danced for one song
But one didn’t seem so long
Seven songs later
He didn’t want to leave her
But it was time to go

They were meant for each other
They thought they’d never need another
Til’ that first night
When he wanted to disappear
And she wanted to get away
They never thought that they’d see the end of today
Oooooh...
Until today...
Mmmm....
Until today.......

Six months later
They’ve been talkin’ on the phone
Every night, Every day
They’ve learned so much of each other
That they’ve planned to be married someday
When her mother and her father let her go
When he finds a new job and is on his own
They’ve a plan for their life
They’ll be the happiest couple there’ll ever be
And ooooooh..... It feels so right
Yeah... It feels right.....

They were meant for each other
They thought they’d never need another
Til’ that first night
When he wanted to disappear
And she wanted to get away
They never thought that they’d see the end of today
Oooooh...
Until today...
Mmmm....
Until today.......

So now she’s sittin’ at the table
Writing her heart out on paper
‘Bout how it came to be
Ooooooh....
You and me..
Yeeeeeaaaaah... You and me.

We were meant for each other
We thought we’d never meet each other
Til’ that first night
When you wanted to disappear
And I wanted to get away
We thought that we would never see the end of today
Ooooohh...
Until today...
Mmmmm...
Yeah... Until today......

She was only thirteen years
Been through a hard time as it appears
Always sneaking out of the house
Just to have a couple beers
He was seventeen then
Being single all over again
Never had a first kiss
Never felt the midnight bliss
