Stuart - Lyric Critique

by Michael
(England)

Stuart

Eyes hidden to deflect the style,
beyond your hinterland
where a mission fizzed around;
the birth of something free, unknown,
this essence all your own.
Dark glasses lest you showed your pain;
only Astrid in the other world could see.
Till your painter's brush flew dry and high,
with you to the sky.

Fortune glimpsed a shard of you, that first one
breaking off, a glitter then a dying gleam
apart from you, a remnant of your stay;
in words from those who loved you
time has now replayed.
A counterpoint to the sleaze and the rain,
while Astrid held you up for art to claim.
Touched all of you in secret nights away,
from the Hamburg stage.

Eyes smitten fixed upon her smile,
you this mystery man;
she a frisson on the ground,
of this other world at your hand.
Remembrance certain now;
if black must leave without a face,
spirit lights the mirror, slowly wanders free.
In the faintest touch which lasts all time,
when true love defies.

Haunted the phrases were in letters home.
Wakening a bitter pill when sleep's relief
departed you; and then your longest day.
A bird you knew above you,
climbed into your brain.
A symbol then an angel for your pain,
while Astrid held you up for God to claim;
touched all of you before you went away,
from your mortal cage.
