Stood With my Back to the Wind - Lyrics Critique

by David Wright
(Deming, New Mexico)

I grew up a drifter
my eyes on the rainbow
with colors
that fade in the rain
dreams of the highway
that came to me nightly
I tried to resist
but in vain.
(Chorus)
I've always been humbled by sunrise
stood with my back to the wind
searching for something
and someone to care
in places I've never seen.

I've sat in the light
of a flickering campfire
wasted on bourbon and gin
watching the faces
and broken down traces
of losers like me
on the run.
(Chorus)
I've always been humbled by sunrise
stood with my back to the wind
searching for something
and someone to care
in places I've never seen.
(Fade to close)
Searching for something
and someone to care
in places I've never seen.

My comments
by: Scott

I think this song is really good and picture it being sung as a solo, with a guitar in a kind of unplugged type set-up.

I am no expert by eany means but when I write I act out the words in my head and see where it take me and I do this when reading other peoples work too, but truly, I really like this.

Pretty Awesome!
by: misterYORI

The lyrics are awesome, and I feel a reminiscent tone throughout the whole song.
It feels really cohesive.

But this song doesn't really sing to me. Just reading the lyrics, it's not a song that I understand right away.
Maybe think about a rhyme scheme to make it better?

Great!

This post is late as I'm new to this site. I just had to tell you I really like your song as it sings to me and I get it right away. Good job, and I hope you've tried to do something with it!!!
