Stephen - Lyrics Critique

by Michael
(England.)

Stephen

Stephen walked along
the river shore that day,
something he'd last done,
as a child.
Was it latent comfort
that held his mind?
No-one really knows now;
but then he didn't say.

Where do we go,
when the slow light goes dim?
Where do we go,
when the cold night folds in?
When do we know anything?

Stephen talked a lot,
forgiven for this way;
rum things he'd gathered
in his life.
Was it the patience of us all,
or his smile?
No-one really knows now,
nor would venture to say.

Where do we go,
when the slow light goes dim?
Where do we go,
when the cold night folds in?
When do we know anything?

Stephen joked often
of living for today,
plumping for last chances,
not styles.
Was it the latent in us all,
he could find?
No-one really knows now,
but then he went away.

Where do we go,
when the slow light goes dim?
Where do we go,
when the cold night folds in?
When do we know anything?

Twilight brought his song
delivered to the grave.
Something he had known,
for a while,
from that day he walked,
along the riverside.
We all miss him now,
more than ever we could say.

Where do we go,
when the slow light goes dim?
Where do we go,
when the cold night folds in?
Sometimes anything is everything.
