~Songwriting Passion~

My name is Alyssa Martin. I am 15 years old and I have a passion for music and songwriting. Teaching myself guitar, piano and drums are also one of my hobbies. I have been playing the violin for almost eight years and I am in the Hershey Symphony and a college orchestra. My sister and i used to perform every where and were well known in our area. We performed funerals to parties, weddings, to fairs. I am confident on stage because of this.


My parents are trying to talk me into doing something more "serious" of a career than songwriting but I know deep down that this is what I am meant to do. Every one I performed my songs for loved it but I am shy when it comes to performing my own songs in person. It is a passion I had since I was seven and I never got tired of it. The only worry I have is not ever being successful and my dreams being flushed down the toilet. If that happens I will probably continue but also get a part time job and daytrade. I couldn't handle doing just one of the same thing everyday and I want to work out of the home.


My 10 year old sister, Shianne, is so musical. Everything comes easy to her. She doesn't even have to practice her viola all week to pass her songs. She is amazing at writing songs, especially lyrics. We wrote a song together and it was amazing. When I sing, write, or perform music, I feel this connection. The only problem is that she NEVER wants to practice. She sais she is more into sports but she doesn't practice soccer either. I don't understand her. SHE HAS AN AMAZING VOICE, TALANT IN MUSIC AND SHE WASTES IT!!!! I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO.

The hardest thing for me is writing lyrics. I have to write in the shower for it to turn out better. Then my parents yell at me because I am in the shower forever!

When I enter one of my songs in a contest and see the results, that will deturmine my future in songwriting.
