songwriting originality?

okay really now, i have heard bookoos of songs about loooove gone wrong and suicidal tendencies and hopelessness, etc, they are all starting to sound the same to me. I know some people really do have a story to tell, but how can you make stuff like this origional? its so overused, i mean everybody thinks they can bring the world to its knees with this stuff, but its becomming a bit cliche.
