Obviously, if you are not musically inclined you may have a hard time of. But if you have the tools (instrument) and can carry a tune in a bucket, then why not? You wrote the lyric and no matter how hard you try to impart or explain your idea to someone to play/sing your song, it's not you. It's someone else singing/playing your tune. It's not your emotion. It's not your tone. It's not your heart... it's someone else's.
I highly encourage you to sing/play your own songs. Only you can give it the spin you hear in your own mind.

whichever you feel would be better by: Anonymous
honestly it's kindof a matter of preference
I'm gonna relate this to KISS because their the band that i know the most about but anyway
If you've heard the song God of Thunder it has some real power with Gene singing it. This song was written by Paul Stanley.
Another KISS song "shock me" was both written and sung by Ace Frehley. His voice added a sort of spacy sound over the track that no other member of KISS could have successfully produced.
It's a matter of what the song is about and who has the voice to carry that message through most clearly.
If you have a voice that sounds awesome with the song, if your lead singer has the voice let him sing it, if you drummer has the voice let him sing it, etc.

songwriter should sing the song by: Anonymous
The songwriter should sing the its their story they are telling, no one else should say what they have to say
