Set realistic goals (Songwriting)

You cannot conjure up a hook or a melody on cue. It is very mysterious how a melody or a chord progression or just a simple riff that you can build around will reveal itself. You cannot force it, nor can you will it. Just play and try not to think about what you are playing but listen to what you are playing... Huh?? Yep, like I said,, mysterious. Don't expect success... It's like finding love. Sappy, I know,, but it does not mean it is not true.
