Payin' Back Mine? Country Song - Lyrics Critique

by Scotty
(Calgary AB)

Just a short country song. wrote it on a long drive. just want to know what other people think. Constructive critiscm appreciated.

They said im a lost soul, but im way beyond lost
they say i still owe them, but ive counted up the cost
but ill just stick with it, tho ive paid all the interest
for every bad thing ive done

chorus
like when i,
I pushed you out of the way, that day on John Laurier
a family of five, four kids and a wife
she mouthed the words thank you, with tears in her eyes
what do i owe you, i said "nothing, im just payin back mine

I cant rewrite history, so I live with my choices
got no regrets, except the ones with the voices
but ill just stick with it, cause ive paid all the interest
for every bad thing ive done

chorus
like when i,
i was told your a good man, that day at the coffee stand
he was a blind old stubborn man, hell bent doin it by his own hand
i guide him over here,I told him over there
and when he said thankyou, i said "im just payin back mine

Thats how i sleep at night, knowing all that ive done right
takin it day by day, and letting kindness have its way

GOOD

I really like wher you are headed with this lyric there is a message there a point keep working on this one. work on ryme and flow but very nice I wrote something simular about the people in my life that have had an inpact called doing what you do.

I never thought I’d live to see thirty, but here I am staring fifty in the eye
Looking back I don’t recall how I made it through it all
It was by the grace of God and a friend like you
Doing what you do
Doing what you do

I never saw myself as a daddy, till that little girl came into my life.
Looking back I’m so surprised somehow we both survived.
It was by the grace of God and a wife like you.
Doing what you do

Doing what you do has made such a difference, in the way my life turned out today.
If you had not been there by my side, I don’t think I would have survived
If it weren’t for you
Doing what you do
Doing what you do
