"Not This Time" Lyrics Critique- rock/pop song

by Anna Souden
(Conroe, Texas, USA)

"Not This Time" is a song I wrote about my past and present relationship(s). I'm a singer/ songwriter who wants to see just how far my talents can take me. All I want is feedback on the arrangement and content of this song. I'm haven't been writing my own songs for long but and feedback that can help my to write better would help. So, here is the song; I hope you can help or that you enjoy it.

Not This Time

The phone rings,
I can hear your voice.
You say your leaving,
That you have no other choice.

The love between us,
Has grown so small.
And you were never there,
To catch me when I would fall.

*It was perfect,
You were mine.
But we never found the time,
To open our hearts.( to open up our hearts)
I thought you were everything I needed,
And I thought that I could make you see.
But not this time.
Oh not this time.

And now I?m here,
Waiting for someone to take me away.
And there is something,
I forgot to say.
That even though we are apart,
I will always keep you in my heart.

But now I?m over you,
And there is nothing you can do.
And there is nothing you can say,
To make me take you back again.
Something inside is telling me,
That this is the real end for you and me.
Do you remember how it used to be?

* It was perfect,
You were mine.
But we never found the time,
To open our hearts.
I thought you were everything I needed,
And I thought I could make you see.
But not this time,
Oh, not this time.

When we were together,
You were always on my mind.
But for once in my life,
This life is mine.

*It was perfect,
You were mine.
But we never found the time,
To open our hearts.
I thought you were everything I needed.
I thought I could make you see.
(repeat)

But not this time, not this time.
