Negativity and Getting Stuck - songwriting

by Emily
(USA)

When I write songs, I often get stuck with negativity. I am only 10 but I love to write and hope to be a famous singer and actress someday. My friends and even people I don't know say I'm good at singing and acting. But there's only one person bringing me down... my own sister. I just learned to ignore that negativity and go for the gold. I just say that what I write is good, even if it isn't. And if I don't even think it's good, than I don't think about it. I take a break, forget about the song, and come back to it later. Sometimes not even SOON as in later. Last night I was trying to write, but got stuck. I just listened to a song inside my head, and I didn't even realize this, but I got lost in it. I didn't even know the world was around me. And then, right now, almost 24 hours later, I come back to writing. And if it's not a good topic, I use something else for a topic. I hope my advice helps!!
