My songwriting story

by kelcy lounsberry
(lowman idaho)

Well I have gone through a lot in my life... a lot of different emotions and a lot of experiences that I believe other people can learn from. I have gone through things that I know that others can relate to. I use my life experiences and put them into lyrics. I usually first think of the melody...a catchy melody that will get peoples attention and then I add lyrics to it. Not all songs have to rhyme. In fact too much rhyming may not be the best option. I was adopted when I was younger and I wrote a song about it using abandonment for the title. The best lyrics i believe are the ones that compare to something. example...being afraid- you might say something like this in a song "its one of those type of days when the rain keeps falling and the clouds keep comin" or "im tripping in this darkness increasing my insanity etc..just sit, reflect and let it come to you. i write music often so i get better and better.
