Promoting yourself as an Artist.
To succeed in the music business you must be dedicated, energetic, persistent and passionate about your work. If you just sit back and wait for things to happen, chances are you will be waiting in vain. Music promotion involves using resources which you have at your disposal, to reach out to your audience.
You must do everything in your power to progress. Read books and magazines, subscribe to articles, visit online forums and learn techniques from other artists. It's difficult for someone to just do things for you. People normally have their own agendas. My advice to you is to try to help yourself and learn all you can about music promotion.
The Guerilla Music Marketing Handbook.
Bob Baker definitely ranks among the best when it comes to music marketing and promotion. His book,
The Guerilla Music Marketing Handbook, is one of the best works I've discovered on music promotion.
It is all about this works and that doesn't. No fluff! Too many music marketing and promotion books contain page after page of filler material, just to make them fatter. It's nice to see one with an obvious difference.
As soon as you begin reading the book, you realize that you're dealing with a guy who knows what he's talking about. Bob presents you with over 201 ways to promote your music. You don't really need all of them, though. You just pick out what suits your needs.
I like the part where he shows you the first basic steps you must take to successfully market your music. And later he goes on to show you various ideas on selling more CDs.
The guy is really a master of music promotion and music marketing, and he doesn't waste your time. All I can say is hats off to him for such fantastic information and assistance.
And the price? It's really worth it!
