Macs are cheaper than PCs

I disagree with your comment that PCs are cheaper than Macs in the short and long term. Whilst PCs have a higher initial price a 1 year old Mac will still be worth around 75% of it's purchase price while a 1 year old pc you might as well just throw in the bin! It's much cheaper to buy a Mac in the long run.

Even an upgrade would put you even to a Mac
by: Anonymous

Sorry to tell you Mac but when you buy a great system on the PC you can also stay with it for a while. The only reason you would throw it in the bin is if you want to upgrade your computer to something even more powerful, and even that would be half as much as a Mac. Why would you do that if what you have works well?

Please... a Cheap Mac?
by: Anonymous

PC's cost less than Mac IF you do your homework and shop around for good deals. To give you an idea, an iMac with enough Ram to run some of the software needed in audio goes for around $1200.00. This might have a DUAL CORE intel processor with around 2.66 GHz.

A better buy for me was a PC with an i7 920 intel QUAD CORE processor with 2.66 GHz that can easily be overclocked with a good power supply and so forth. A comparable Mac to this PC would be a Mac Pro for about $3,300.00.

So my options are... iMac - $1200, Mac Pro - $3,300, or my refurbished i7 920 PC for $750. Not only will I outperform the iMac, I'll pay SHOCKINGLY LESS than I'd pay for what EITHER MAC retails for... and that has held true for about 10 years now since this is the second PC I've purchased over a MacIntosh.
