Inspire yourself, by yourself

by Manishea
(St. Paul, Minnesota, U.S.A.)

As a songwriter, sometimes lyrics will just come to me. Other times, a melody will be in head and I try to think of words/phrases to match. I often find myself using everyday situations and writing about how I feel or how someone else may feel under different circumstances. I'm sure we all probably get writer's block from time-to-time and when it happens to me, I just postpone my writing for another time. Sometimes I just sit and read things that I've written in the past and they inspire me to write more. It's also fun to just make up melodies in my head or record my self so that I can remember a certain melody.

Inspiring Myself
by: Anonymous

I think is a good method to take the inspiration from movies. They have the advantage that take me inspired with true emotional stages, and also have a story, and most of the times are situations that I also lived. This is a way that help me to be focused. There´s nothing more frustrating that finding a title but not to know where to go, what persons and situations could be in the lyrics. This way I have the idea, the situations and the goal to write my lyrics and to express my own mood, taking from another view.
