I Need Help to start writing my own songs can you help?

I can sing, act, dance, but when it comes to writing music I get really shy and I am unsure if I sound too corny.
What are good ways to get more confident in your lyrics?
Also I don't play any instrument other than my voice, sometimes its hard to find a rythm in my head.

I can't sing I can't play anything and I don't dance. But I love to write . Check out some of my stuff on this site. What works for me is Hooks If i hear a hook I have to write. One day I was driving across a rural section of Tenn. I saw a hand painted Sign that Said IVA DEANS Beauty Shop and VCR Repair I said now thats a Hook. I wrote this...

Haha, nice lyrics... doesnt sound like my music genre... sounds like its written for country or folke music?

but you cannot deny a good set of lyrics... and i like these, and think that it is even versatile, and could actually work in other styles and genres too

also thank you so much... i keep reading people talking about "The Hook" but never understood it... but thanks to your lyrics i finally understand the concept of "The Hook" and will certainly try this technique out it the future... i believe it may suit me well and bring a whole new dimension to my writing...

what i did was i just sung it and sing what you feel i do that a lot.

My idea...

Would be to write about things that gave happened to you and are important to you. A good song must be powerful, and make people feel something. It needs to be something that you can really draw a lot of emotion from. And try to experiment a little!! Have fun! If you think of something, write it down and if you don't like it go back o er it later, find the good things, and try to use them. Be creative, and try things you have never tried before.:)
