Research for Reality
by: Just1ComplexSOul

First...
SOME rap and hip-hop songs have meanings. Alot of them aren't just about money and women with big breasts. There is a difference between "commercial" rap and hip-hop, and "real" hip-hop.
Try listening to Common, or Lupe Fiasco. Many of their songs have meanings. But you won't find the songs with meaning playing on the radio. You have to search for them. Real hip-hop tells a story.

Here is a lyric from Common from a song he was featured on called "Truth" by Pharaoh Monch ft Common & Talib Kweli

"Let the truth be told from young souls that become old
From days spent in the jungle, where must one go
To find it, time is real, we can't rewind it
Out of everybody I met, who told the truth? Time did"

Or what about this one by Common featured in the song "The Light"
"It's important, we communicate
and tune the fate of this union, to the right pitch
I never call you my b**** or even my boo
There's so much in a name and so much more in you
Few understand the union of woman and man
And sex and a tingle is where they assume that it land
But that's fly by night for you and the sky I write"

do some research and you will write a great song...expand your horizons! Happy trails!
