Home Recording Studio Tips...

The Studio Booth

The Studio Booth

Building a home recording studio is not as hard as some people want you to believe. In fact, a lot of the platinum hits ou hear on the radio and tv were recorded in a home studio. With technology being so advanced these days, artists have found a less expensive way to record their music, and that's in their own home, or the home of one of their buddies.

Recording in a major studio is very expensive, with our economy like it is at this point, artists with low financial budgets have an unfair advantage in the industry. Well, not anymore, since you can create a home studio that will allow you the same quality sound as the majors.

First you must decide what room of your home you want your studio to be in. A basement, re-constructed is ideal, but everyone doesn't have one. Another good spot is the garage, if you are not using it for your cars.

I chose to take one of my spare bedrooms as a great spot for my studio. The floor is solid, with thick carpet. The ceiling is low. I use the closet as a vocal booth.

I will first, explain the closet. This is a perfect spot for a vocal booth in a home recording studio. I took the shelf down, that use to be where you hange clothes, now it is for artists to put there water, tea, notebook, or whatever on it. I also use the vocal booth for my own recordings, using the shelf, now table as a prop to put a mouse pad on, for my wireless mouse. With this, I don't have to run in and out of my booth to record. I have completely deadened the closet with foam. Acoustic foam is very expensive, so I got packaging foam from a warehouse I use to work at and some bedding foam from Wal-Mart. This all serves the same purpose and is much cheaper. With the foam I had left over, I strategically placed it along my walls in the lab, to give me that pro studio room sound for mixing. This is a start for those who are on a tight budget, but want to create pro quality sound.

I have much more advice like computer, software and hardware you may need. Just contact me and we can talk.
