Help with writing metal/alternate genre songs.

by tim
(australia)

Hey I was just wondering were there some tips and hints for writing lyrics to a metal/ emo song, because I'm having great difficulty writing songs. I write the lyrics and they all just seem like random bits of crap.
Need help.

just like he was saying in the last one you cant just sit down and write a song... it wouldnt be about any thing. you have to think and wonder until you get a good idea dont write it then either let it work in you untill you feel passionstely about a issue. till youi cant help but write an amazing song

Maybe..
by: Cuch

Emo/metal is always a bit.. depressing right? Well.. I have the problem that if I write something, it always turns out really negative. Maybe you can try what I do.

I don't sit down to write a song. I just don't. Sometimes a line comes pops up and I unconsiously make following lines, which rhyme a bit. It doesn't have to rhyme exactly, but it just has to sounds right, like a apropriate next sentence, so it has some sense of what its about. Then I write down like one verse and the next will come automatically, like a story.
Just write what you're feeling at that exact moment. Then, later, you can look back at it a start changing the bits you don't like as much.

It's just an idea.. see what you do with it.

I have one you can use.

When the blood trickles down,
It's hard to move around
You just would'nt understand.
Because the feeling might feel
bland, it's still intense to me

Well I can feel it all through
my bones, and I scream! Help me...
Please it's just too hard for me
to go through

I guess if you could just listen
Listen to me, hey well maybe
It just won't matter anymore.
(repeat second stanza)

So just go away, go away I can
do it all on my own, you'll
never understand, and you'll never
ever help me.

Metal Lyrics
by: Anonymous

If you are looking for lyrics that are to be sang in a certain style like in a Megadeth style or Metallica style just look at the world around you and all that is happening i.e. war, poverty etc. Use controversial issues as the basis for your lyrics I wrote a few based on war, one on euthanasia, a few based on death. You get the idea? If you want some sort of inspiration just listen to a few metal songs before you start writing and then you might have idea's from those songs that you could use.

Yea all of these tips help me thnx. Me and my friends are going to be making a band. We, well I want our band to be the next dragonforce. Also another tip for song writing, when u are very angry like at school or work strt wrighting there cuz u will be filled up with emotion and you will give thought to your song. This is also good cuz u lose anger this way also but if ur writing a masterpeice then it sucks. Hope this somewhat helped

well to ppl looking at more inspirational music.... I listen to christian stuff that is like this. The Devil Wears Prada, August Burns Red, Demon Hunter, just different tastes in the metal dept.... they still good hardcore stuff, but aren't all depressing.
