I wrote this after visiting at a family reunion recently
I remembered past reuions and such it just came to me.


From Me to We

See that front porch swing/
Swaying in the breeze/
It’s still hanging in the same place /
Where my dad dropped down on one knee/

As he ask my mom to marry him/
So many years ago/
Standing here to day I’m glad/
She didn’t tell him no/

That was the beginning /
Of how I came to be /
The first page of the story/
Of me/

Who I’ve met, Where I’ve been, Everything I’ve ever done./
What I’ve tasted, Time I’ve wasted, looking back it’s sure been fun/
It is all a part of who I came to be/
Just chapters in the story of me/

That’s why I brought you here to Grandpas house /
To our family reunion/
You need to know my roots run deep/
No, I’m not one for moving/

But we don’t have to hurry
We can take it real slow
But please don’t break my heart
By telling me no

One day our kids /
Will come here to see /
The first chapter in the story /
Of we /
