Emotions and Songwriting

by Alisa

The best songs come along when you are feeling a lot of emotion. If you're sad your songs will be sad. If you're happy your songs will be happy. And every other emotion and feeling: they all come out in your songs. Songs are like a diary so put your feelings into them. Make sure you don't overdo it though...when you are feeling a lot of emotion, sometimes you tend to repeat the same things over and over in your song so when you are finished you song, come back to it in a couple hours and look it over. Touch up on the things that a repeated or don't make sense. Good luck! :)

Not always the way
by: Roger

I think (it is my opinion neither "write" or wrong) that the song and emotion are always there.

I disagree as I seem more capable of writing about the harsh parts of life when I am happy. I believe that this is because the ability to see the bad in life is safer when you are in this state of mind.

All my current love songs are break up songs and I am totally happy in my life with love.

Conversely Love songs are easier when they are not about a current love so you don't have to reach their expectations and may be offend!!!

Basically, write and feel and do not try and force an emotional state into the current offering.
