Don't Think About It! (Lyric Writing Advice)

by Jordan Gonzalez
(Florida)

Being a songwriter myself, I can say that the only thing that makes writing lyrics harder is trying to think about what to write. Let the lyrics come to you. Trust me, it happens. Just relax, and think about the emotion you're having in that moment and nothing else. Eventually, they just come. It's unexplainable. It just happens. Usually, for me, I'll think about the "spark of the moment" and just fall asleep. when I wake up, the words are just in my head.
It's amazing, the impact a set of lyrics can have on a person. The best lyrics come from the heart, not the brain.

Yes, I agree that songs must come from your heart and not from your head, otherwise, they're just manufactured and probably won't flow as well. We have to feel what we're writing so that others can somehow feel the same thing we do. Sounds crazy but when it's heartfelt the listener knows.
