Creating a Melody

by Chel
(Virginia)

Hi, I have a song that I wrote and is in the process of creating a melody and chords for it. However, I'm having issues with this. When I was writing the song, I could sort of hear the music in my head. Now, I'm trying play what I heard but it's not working out. My question is what steps should I do in creating music? Should I just play some chords first? If so, what is the simplest chord to get a melody out of? I just don't know where to begin and it's recking my brain. Oh, I'm using a piano.

For Melody, don't be afraid to jump several keys left or right... when you noodle about, that sometimes sparks melodies...
