Brand name use in songs

by Wanda
(Georgia)

I am a songwriter, and I need to know if it is legally OK to use names of credit cards, vehicles, baseball teams, rock bands names, antidepressant pills, names of beer? If not then I need to change my lyrics. Please let me know what ya think.

good question
by: songwriter

That's a good question. Sorry that I don't really know the answer but I'd like to tell you that I've seen it done in many places before so I think it's ok. A lot of songwriters write brand names etc into their lyrics. You can check out www.plugmysongs.com and you'll find a bunch of songs on that site that do it. Unless you are saying something negative about the brand, I'm pretty sure you won't get any issues.
