audio cards

by shawn
(Pa)

i have a soundblaster 24 bit sound card, and it has great sound! however they are not good for audio production because of latency issues. if i run all my effects before i input into the computer i have no problems, but if i use the the cool vst effects like amplitube it sucks up over 70% of my xp 3200 processor. i have like 1.5 gigs of ram too. so when looking for an audio card make sure get one that supports ASIO AND WDM drivers a lot of those have their own processing built in so you can get close to zero latency. m-audio and emu both have them.

You need an audio production sound card.

SoundBlaster is great for playback but not for recording. As you noticed, you will get latency issues. I suggest getting an M-Audio 2496, It is one of the most inexpensive audio cards and has little or no latency.

It sounds great and has good digital audio converters. I think you will be happy after you have it set up properly.

** I DO NOT work for M-Audio**
