Amends

We've had a rough road to ride

All around us trouble seemed to fill the air

For the time being there seems to be no other way

I only want to shine some ever lasting light on your days

With our glory days so far behind us the end is closer then we think

It could all be over before we blink

Im only trying to rebuild the bridges I've burned in the past

And lay down some new pavement set a new cast


Amends, amends, amends is I have left to give

We've wasted our years not speaking the words that matter

Only the words that cut through the heart

As we start to drift so so so far apart


Many years ago when I was younger I wasn't the best around

While others were working hard to improve their lives

I was the one trying to tear mine apart

And it brought you down I know it broke your heart

There's no amount of words I can say to apologize

To fix the damages I caused or our fateful demise

I've shunned you you shunned me

I only hope there's some time left to fix the past and let things be

I just kissed your forehead goodnight
